Hey all.
Well, by now most of you have heard the sad news about The Blooze Bar. It's been all over the local news today, and I'm even proud to say that one station called it a "local favorite watering hole"... I think that fits! The Blooze Bar burned early this morning as a result of an electrical fire in the attic.
I'm lucky enough to say that I've probably sung my ass off on that stage NO LESS than 250 nights @ 4 hrs/night, totalling 1000 hours. This band has probably played there to AT LEAST 5,000 faces over the last 8 years. No doubt that we've made friendships there that will last LONGER than this band has been around (20 years). And I think that maybe I've consumed no less than 30 gallons of beer there. (I'm being VERY conservative on that one!!) There have been weddings there. Marty (from Rock Addix) and his wife Tina just recently renewed their wedding vows there. Dave and I (Roger) celebrated our 40th Birthday Party there with so many of you. We rang in 2009 AND 2010 there with all of you in HELLACIOUS parties. There is a very good possibility that at least one child has been conceived there. (No, not MY kids, and I DON'T care to elaborate....) And we have played "Rebel Yell" in that place WAY more times than I even WANT to remember!
These memories are a HUGE part of the TERASHAIN history. I know it sounds hoaky, but the place (not unlike on the series CHEERS) really was a personality itself. It was like an old buddy that you could always depend on. You were always treated right in there, and it just felt like "Home". I've ALWAYS looked forward to our parties at The Blooze. The weekend just never could come around soon enough.
And, although we mourn the passing of this AWESOME establishment, the members of this band look forward to the FUTURE of The Blooze Bar. The magic CAN be passed on to whatever Tumbleweed cooks up as he sorts through the ashes, and begins to rebuild. It's up to all of us to help keep it alive.
